Santo Antão: CIRAWA project foresees investment of 6.9 million euros for the next 54 months

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Agroecological Strategies for Resilient Agriculture in West Africa (CIRAWA) project, launched today on the island of Santo Antão, foresees an investment of 6.9 million euros for the next 54 months.

The project, which Inforpress had access to, is funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe program, and promoted by the Association for the Defense of the Heritage of Mértola (ADPM), in Portugal, covering Cabo Verde, Senegal, Gambia and Ghana.

In Cabo Verde, this project, launched today, in the city of Porto Novo, by the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, covers the islands of Santo Antão, where it is intended to continue the interventions of the Agroforestry Systems project, completed in December 2022 , and May.

The CIRAWA project works with smallholder farmers in West Africa to improve food nutrition, livelihoods and ecosystem health, with 14 partners from nine countries.
