The initiative was taken by the women’s association of Planalto Leste (Amupal) which, in a statement to which Inforpress had access, said that for a year and a half awareness raising activities had been carried out in Santo Antão schools, involving 302 children.
In addition to the conservation of endemic flora, awareness actions also focused on climate change, agroecology and biodiversity and included visits to experimental fields of ecological agricultural techniques and the forest perimeter of the East Plateau.
“These data represent a great victory, since these children and young people will be active agents in the protection of the endemic flora of Santo Antão and Cabo Verde, also collaborating in the dissemination of the message of safeguarding our natural heritage”, says the note.
