Africa-Press – Cape verde. The sole administrator of Inforpress, Hamilton Jair Fernandes, considered this Friday that the opening of the Delegation in Ribeira Grande, scheduled for Saturday, is to reorganize the agency’s services in Santo Antão, so that it serves the communities.
According to Hamilton Jair Fernandes, Inforpress’s business plan was initially to focus on the creation of infrastructural conditions, namely equipment and materialization of the IT park.
However, according to the same source, they chose to “expand” and open the Inforpress Delegation in Ribeira Grande, and justified that this decision took place in the particular case of Santo Antão, which is an island in itself with a large size, not only in territorial terms, but also in terms of population, with three municipalities and locations dispersed from one another.
“ Therefore, we created the conditions for this purpose here. We hired another journalist on a freelance basis, meaning we will have a total of three journalists and one editor. A vehicle was allocated to face the challenges of the island’s topography, and an investment in a suitable space for Inforpress professionals ”, he highlighted.
Hamilton Jair Fernandes did not specify in numbers the amount invested to create the Inforpress Delegation in Ribeira Grande, and claimed that the most important thing is the impact that these numbers will have in the future.
For the near future, Inforpress’ sole administrator outlined the possibility of hiring a multimedia technician as a way of “expanding” Santo Antão’s content in audio, video and photography.
Furthermore, Hamilton Jair Fernandes said that next June, he will be on the island of São Nicolau on a service mission.
“ São Nicolau demands an effective delegation, as we are talking about an island with two municipalities and an interesting population with a vast diaspora. And, it is our intention, together with our partners in São Nicolau, to create conditions to carry out the installation of the delegation” , he assured.
The same source claimed that in São Nicolau, there is only one freelance journalist and that he has played an “extremely important” role in the context of the island, but it is necessary to have a broader vision in light of the island’s challenges.
“ In the second semester, we will restructure our presence on the island of Fogo, that is, for this year, Inforpress’s three main objectives are the opening of the Delegation in Santo Antão and São Nicolau as well as restructuring the Fogo delegation, which will also move to have more journalists, more equipment and better working conditions ”, he informed.
This vision for this year, according to the sole administrator of Inforpress, fits into a strategy that was duly “well crafted”, not only by the administration, but above all by the agency’s editorial team, considering the commitment that was imposed from the moment it was signed the service provision contract with the State, which is to increase the amount of news, but also give priority to the quality of this same content.
