Africa-Press – Cape verde. The City Council of Ribeira Grande de Santo Antão will take out a loan of 110 million escudos, through the Cape Verde Stock Exchange, for the construction of the Tarrafal grass field, among other infrastructures.
Speaking to the press, after the extraordinary meeting of the Municipal Assembly of Ribeira Grande, which took place on Tuesday, 27th, the Mayor of Ribeira Grande, Orlando Delgado, explained that with that amount the city council intends to carry out projects in 2023, starting with the Tarrafal grass field.
“The Tarrafal grass field is a much talked about and desired dream. Contrary to what they say, this project has already come out in the activity plans, but so far the City Council has not contracted a penny for its construction, but today, with that decision, we will have the resources to make the field that is our great desire” underlined.
Urban rehabilitation and second phase of João Afonso road
Mayor Orlando Delgado also announced that, in addition to the Tarrafal field, the amount of the loan will be used for urban rehabilitation and also for the second phase of the João Afonso road.
Orlando Delgado refuted the arguments of the opposition benches, namely the independent group Alternativa Ribeira Grande (ARG) and the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) that abstained because they considered the value “insufficient” and claimed that it is a electoral “maneuver”.
