Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Suzete Delgado Secondary School, Ribeira Grande, Santo Antão, delivered today to social institutions, 419 kilos of non-perishable food from the Christmas campaign “One class, one hand of solidarity”, developed by the school during this month.

Speaking to the press, the deputy director of the social area at Escola Secundária Suzete, Delgado Lídia Correia, explained that the campaign developed at the institution aimed to collect non-perishable food to later be distributed to social institutions in the municipality.

“The campaign went positively at the school, as we managed to collect 419 kilos of non-perishable food and now we are going to deliver it to nursing homes in Ribeira Grande and Ponta do Sol and also to Casa de Sopa here in Ribeira Grande”, highlighted.

With the implementation of the project, Lídia Correia stressed that it had the purpose of awakening in students the spirit of solidarity and mutual help, and showing them the importance of caring about others.

The same source also pointed out that in addition to the campaign, the project had another aspect of having a competition in which the classes that collected the most food would receive the title of the most supportive class in the school.
