Africa-Press – Cape verde. The creation of the agency involves the natural transformation of the Regional Development Office with a focus on territorial planning and modernization.
“We believe that the Regional Development Office has already fulfilled its role in the field of planning. Now the proposal is to transform the office into an agency, a structure capable of continuing to collaborate with city halls in the modernization of urban planning and the development of new urbanizations”, explained Nuías Silva.
The project to create the Regional Development Agency foresees the inclusion of specialized departments to attract emigrants and foreign direct investment, inspired by the “Trade Invest” model adapted to the island’s reality.
The agency, he explained, will also act as a “technological arm” to modernize the municipalities of the Fogo/Brava Region with centralization of resources and promotion of synergies for development.
“We want this agency to be the engine of tourism, agro-industrial and technological development in the Fogo/Brava Region. Instead of each municipality investing in isolation, we can concentrate efforts on a structure that serves everyone efficiently”, stated the candidate for mayor of São Filipe.
Nuías Silva highlighted that the proposed model is based on successful practices in the Canary Islands, adjusted to local specificities and highlighted that the initiative would have the potential to revolutionize intermunicipal planning.
Nuías Silva assured that he is in a position to implement the agency and that he has already identified partners for this.
On Tuesday night, in a campaign action in the Cobom neighborhood, in addition to paving the street that connects this neighborhood to Santa Filomena square, he promised a cultural monument in the Cobom roundabout to honor the “makers” of culture, as well as the creation of a playground in the “Papá Tóta” pedestrian mall
In São Filipe, Nuías Silva (PAICV), António Cardoso (MpD) and Egídio de Pina (UCID) are running for president.
In the 2020 elections, the Movement for Democracy (MpD) won 14 municipal chambers, while the Cape Verde African Independence Party (PAICV) dominated in eight.
