São Lourenço Hosts 3rd International Nature Tourism

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The town of São Jorge, in the municipality of São Lourenço dos Órgãos, will host the 3rd International Conference on Nature Tourism (CITNCV) this Friday, the 19th, as part of the official celebrations of World Tourism Day.

According to a note sent to Inforpress, the choice of São Lourenço dos Órgãos to host this event reaffirms the Government’s strategic commitment to promoting the decentralization of tourism and enhancing local potential.

The main objective of this event is to discuss and reinforce the role of nature tourism as a driver of territorial inclusion, income generation, and sustainable development in Cape Verde.

The meeting aims to highlight and enhance the region’s landscape, agricultural, cultural, and community resources, promoting more equitable and sustainable tourism development.

With the motto “Innovation and Sustainability Drive the Future of Travel,” the conference will bring together national and international experts, public decision-makers, tour operators, community leaders, academics, and civil society organizations.

According to Inforpress, CITNCV builds on previous editions, held “successfully” in Santo Antão and São Nicolau, and fits within the government’s strategic pillars for the sector, as it aims to position Cape Verde as an internationally renowned destination in the nature tourism segment, capitalizing on its diverse natural and environmental resources.

The event represents another step in the strategy of diversifying the national tourism offering, in line with the Operational Tourism Program (POT 2022-2026) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It should be remembered that, at the beginning of this month of September, the president of the Tourism Institute, Jair Fernandes, accompanied by the executive administrator Vânia Rodrigues, carried out a visit to the municipalities of São Lourenço dos Órgãos, São Salvador do Mundo, Santa Catarina, São Miguel and Tarrafal, as part of a strengthening of cooperation with municipal councils and tour operators.
