Africa-Press – Cape verde. The island of São Vicente receives on the 22nd the presentation of the book “Teixeira de Sousa, um ilhéu de causas”, authored by Jorge Tolentino and which aims to draw attention to the writer’s work.
The presentation is scheduled for next Friday, at the Onésimo Silveira auditorium in the University of Mindelo (Uni-Mindelo).
The work represents a bibliographic testimony resulting from a research work by Jorge Tolentino on the writer of Claridade, as the author explained at the launch of the book in March, in São Filipe, Fogo, where the writer lived.
The author tries in this book to stimulate and provoke in the younger ones the taste for reading the works of Henrique Teixeira de Sousa, who describes as being “one of the people who marked Cabo Verde in the twentieth century in the fields of literature, medicine, politics among others”. Henrique Teixeira de Sousa (September 6, 1919 – March 3, 2006) was a Cabo Verdean physician and writer.
He wrote works such as “Contra Mar evento – livro de contos” (1972), “Ilhéu de contenda” (first of trilogy) (1978), “Capitão de Mar e Terra” (1984), “Xaguate” (second trilogy) (1987) “Djunga” (1990), “Na Ribeira de Deus” (third in trilogy) (1992), “Entre duas Bandeiras” (1994), “Oh Mar das Túrbidas Vagas” (2005).
