Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of the Sea, Abraão Vicente, presents today, Monday, the Gender Strategy in Fisheries, in one of the hotels in São Vicente.
According to a note sent to Inforpress, the event, which will be held in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), responds to the Government Programme for the X Legislature, as well as to the main planning instruments, namely the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development (PEDS) and the National Plan for Gender Equality 2022/2025.
The same document states that a number of activities have been developed for the development of the Gender Strategy for the Fisheries sector in Cabo Verde.
These activities, according to the Minister, highlight two cases of studies on the islands of São Vicente and Maio, aimed at gender analysis of the value chain on the artisanal fisheries products and identifying the specific needs of fishmongers and fishermen, gender analysis of public fisheries policies, evaluation of knowledge and gender responses of key institutions in the fisheries sector and the training of key actors in the fisheries sector.
