São Vicente: Municipal Police Receive Vehicles, Pistols and Handcuffs to Reinforce Actions

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Internal Administration, Paulo Rocha, delivered, this Monday, 14th, two vehicles, pistols and handcuffs to the Municipal Police, in São Vicente, to reinforce its action and support the functions of the National Police.

The act, part of the activities commemorating Mindelo City Day, is part, according to the governor, of the work done to operationalize the Municipal Police throughout the country.

“The Municipal Police is fundamental in terms of the support it provides to the National Police in those tasks that have to do, above all, with municipal regulations, such as inspection and protection of public spaces”, considered Paulo Rocha.

The donation was made exactly one year after the creation of the Municipal Police, which on April 14, 2024 was presented with two vehicles and now receives two more vehicles and protective equipment, such as pistols and handcuffs.

For his part, the president of the Municipal Council of São Vicente, Augusto Neves, considered that he has had “great support” from the Ministry of Internal Administration, more specifically from Minister Paulo Rocha, for the organization of this police force, a pioneering experience at a national level.

In this way, according to the same source, it is expected to be able to help the island and the city, in its organization and security and be another reinforcement to our National Police.

“That is the objective, which is why we have been working in harmony. We are in no rush and, therefore, little by little, we are organizing our police force in order to organize the city and keep it safe,” he emphasized.

The Municipal Police currently has 15 officers.

It helps maintain public peace and protect communities, always in cooperation and coordination with security forces.
