São Vicente: Organisations want to improve children’s situations in social centres – ICCA’s President

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Cabo Verdean Institute of Children and Adolescents (ICCA) and the head of UNICEF’s Cabo Verdean Office are visiting Mindelo to listen to authorities and improve children’s situations in social centers.

The visit, which still includes Santo Antão, according to ICCA’s President Maria Silva, is made in the same way every year and now accompanied by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) representative, which is the “main partner” of the institute.

The purpose of the visit, which began today in Mindelo and ends on the 31st, in Santo Antão, is to learn about the situation of children on the two islands.

“What the ICCA has done together with its partners, what we can improve so that the work is better done and also see the children and what can be proposed for later,” explained Maria Silva, for whom after the COVID-19 pandemic “many families became poorer and in need of the support from the entities”.
