Africa-Press – Cape verde. The candidates of the Independent and Democratic Cape Verdean Union (UCID, opposition) for the municipal chamber and assembly, in São Vicente, should be known this January, according to information provided by the party president.
oão Santos Luís gave this certainty in an interview with Inforpress, in which he informed that they are finalizing the contacts to choose the heads of the list for the municipal council and assembly and plan to publish the municipalities, where the party will go, by the beginning of February. compete.
The first islands to meet their candidates, he added, now in January, should be São Vicente and Sal.
“UCID is an alternative, it has ideas and projects, it has capabilities and can perfectly do its best”, he considered, adding that they are working to fulfill the population’s ambitions, such as those related to housing, health, employment, public lighting and others.
Hence, according to the same source, the party will participate in the municipal clash, which should take place between October and November this year, with its “head held high” and confident in the positive feedback received from people, “unhappy” with the current situation.
João Santos Luís guaranteed that the “malaise” seen when the UCID chose to support Carlos Veiga in the 2021 Presidential Elections has already been overcome.
“We have been raising awareness and making people understand that it was a decision made by the previous management and now we have a new management and new president who are focused on finding solutions for the country’s communities”, he launched.
Therefore, he believes that the decision will not affect the party in the next elections, because the stance of the current team is “completely different and in a positive way”.
“Right now, new ideas and better organization are being implemented in this sense. We are thinking beings and an issue that happened three years ago, we have to be able to do things differently so that people can see”, he reiterated.
Asked if he would decide in this sense if he were the president of the time, João Santos Luís said he did not know, but, he believes, that “the leader of the moment is the one who has his own way of convincing his leaders to make a certain decision”.
However, as the current leader of the party he hopes to make “right decisions” that will place the party “on a higher level, with determination and focus”.
João Santos Luís assured, on the other hand, that in the next elections they will focus on ideas and projects, “without rehashing old and bad things”.
The UCID currently has seven party structures organized, six in the country and one in the diaspora in the Americas.
