Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Tourism said on Thursday in Mindelo that the Operational Plan for Tourism provides a set of projects for São Vicente, budgeted at about 580 million escudos for the next five years.
Carlos Santos was speaking to the press after inaugurating the Institute of Tourism Delegation to the Northern region that, in addition to São Vicente, should cover the island of Santo Antão.
According to the Minister, the Operational Plan for Tourism (POT) will have two phases, and encompasses a set of infrastructures of interest. In this first phase he expects an investment in the fish market of about 110 million escudos (one million euros).
“We want to turn it into the fish market that is requalified, but a tourist point of interest. This means improving the sale conditions and all packaging conditions”, said Carlos Santos, adding that they will “requalify the market fishing pier” and to equip with “refrigeration equipment and all others will help the entire fishing value chain wich will integrate with the tourism value chain”.
