Africa-Press – Cape verde. The 2022/23 season of the Portuguese Football League starts this Friday, 5th, with six Cape Verdean players. A number that has been decreasing compared to the 2018/19 season in which 11 Cape Verdean footballers played.

Of the six footballers, the highlight is the return of former Cape Verdean international Fernando Varela, who after nine seasons returns to Portugal to represent Casa Pia.

Also noteworthy is the debut in the first league of internationals Gilson Tavares (Estoril-Praia), João Correia and Kevin Pina, from Desportivo de Chaves, where Patrick Fernandes also plays, who will make his second season in the top division of Portuguese football.
