Sustainable tourism: 15 projects selected for pre-incubation in the Empreatur project

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Fifteen of the 45 registered projects were selected for the pre-incubation phase, within the scope of the competition for business ideas in sustainable tourism on the island of Santiago. The initiative is carried out by the Center for Entrepreneurship and Service Provision of the University of Cape Verde.

The same happens with the Empreatur Project and includes two stages, the pre-incubation and the incubation of business ideas.

According to the project coordinator, Sílvia Spencer, quoted by Inforpress, 15 business idea projects were selected, out of a total of 45 ideas entered, and those selected are now entering the training phase, with the aim of helping trainees and future entrepreneurs to develop the idea acceleration process.

“What we are going to do at this stage is to train young people, develop entrepreneurial characteristics, support them so that they also have the ability to manage their business plan”.

Five advance to the next stage

After this step, explained the same source, participants will make a new presentation, through which five ideas will be selected to enter the incubation phase.

The focus, he recalled, is oriented towards the island of Santiago and women, and one of the principles of the project is to help women to have their own jobs, focused on the sustainable tourism model.

Among the selection criteria are age at least 18 years and being unemployed.

The Empreatur project has the University of Vigo as its main partner and is funded by Spanish Cooperation, through the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
