Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Government has already instructed the TACV administration to carry out an internal investigation, with a view to ascertaining under what circumstances the failure to renew the certificate on time, which prevented the national air carrier from flying over European airspace, occurred.
“There is an inquiry that is being carried out, which the ministry [of Transport] asked the council [of the TACV administration] to know, effectively and objectively, what happened and not to embark on the accusations about guy A, B and C”, said the supervising minister, Carlos Santos, acknowledging that there was a “deficiency” on the part of the board of directors of the national flag carrier.
“We have to recognize that there was a deficiency on the part of the board of directors (CA) of Cabo Verde Airlines,” the official told RCV, quoted by Inforpress.
Origin may in incomplete delivery of documents
Based on preliminary information received from the CA of TACV, the Minister of Tourism and Transport admits that the origin of the non-renewal of the certificate may be in response to complementary questions from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
According to Carlos Santos, on the 13th of May, the TACV Board of Directors provided EASA with a set of information, in order to renew the certificate and that, on the 17th, there was a response from EASA asking for an “additional set of documents”.
“Perhaps that is where the complete delivery of these documents was not made”, admitted the official, adding that the TACV administration has until the end of this month to send the investigation report to the tutelage.
Flights resumed today
The non-renewal of the Air Operator’s Certificate led Cabo Verde Airlines to cancel some flights, forcing the company to rent an aircraft to third parties to transport passengers.
With the certification process completed, TACV’s management assured that the company would resume, as of this Thursday, 21, operations with Boeing 737-700 registration D4-CCI. Flights with this aircraft had been interrupted since July 7th.
“TACV complied with all the protection requirements of its passengers”, guaranteed the CA of Cabo Verde Airlines.
