Africa-Press – Cape verde. Three candidates are in the running for leadership of the Municipal Political Commission of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), in São Vicente, whose elections are scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 3.
The youngest, Vander Gomes, told Inforpress that his candidacy presents an “aggregating vision of the MpD family, where young people and less young people are called to participate, in a potentiating harmony between youth and seniority”.
The 31-year-old politician, 13 of which have been militancy, said that he is running because he wants to promote the projection of a new generation of politicians, of people committed to the principles and values of the MpD, friends of their island and committed to their future and the country’s future. This, he explained, with the aim of making the party grow within Mindelo society.
“I promise, with great commitment, work, seriousness, honesty and responsibility, together with the team that accompanies me in this challenge, to make the MpD grow and assert itself more and more within Mindelo society, so that together we can be proud of the our party and our island, always aiming to build a better future”, said the same source, who is national vice president of Youth for Democracy (JpD) and national deputy.
Flávio Lima, in turn, revealed that he decided to accept the challenge of running for the leadership of the MpD in São Vicente, believing that he can “give substance to an ambitious project for the party” on the island, “based on a strong, dynamic and committed team”. with the values of the MpD”.
The 37-year-old candidate, who is also the leader of the MpD bench in the São Vicente Municipal Assembly, said that he intends to be “a unifier of the party, from the base of the summit, from the youngest to the least young”.
“Right now, the MpD-SV needs a coordinator who unreservedly embraces the collective interests of the militants and the ambitions of the people of São Vicente, who is an energetic person, at the same time peaceful and unifying, a link and who can lead an MpD of all and for all its militants” he said.
The third candidacy, that of Armindo Gomes, 62, who has been a member of the party since the 2000s, advanced that he intends to “better organize the party, dynamize the bases and attract new young militants to the bosom of the MpD in São Vicente” and also “unite internal sensitivities to have better results in the next municipal and legislative elections.
For this reason, he added, it presents a list of “young, senior activists, with gender parity, activists engaged with the causes of the MpD and its principles”.
