Africa-Press – Cape verde. From Wednesday to the 13th of this month, Uni-CV will host the 4th International Seminar on African Paths, an event that symbolises the strengthening of South-South cooperation and the historical and cultural ties between Cape Verde and Brazil.

According to the University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV) in a press release, this edition will bring together a delegation of 50 students selected by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and six professors from partner Brazilian institutions, in a joint effort to explore and deepen the understanding of African, Afro-Brazilian and Cape Verdean cultures.

According to Uni-CV, the seminar will open with a conference entitled “America Connections: Contemporary Stories and Challenges between Brazil and Cape Verde”, and will feature a range of activities, including round tables, workshops, visits to historical and cultural sites, thematic workshops and will close with the conference “Cultures in Dialogue: Reflections on the South Atlantic in Contemporary Times”.

According to the press release, this is an ongoing effort to internationalise education, promoting intercultural dialogue that fosters mutual understanding, combating racist attitudes and strengthening historical and cultural ties.

The South-South Exchange Programme Caminhos Amefricanos is a joint initiative of the Brazilian Ministries of Racial Equality and Education, designed to encourage anti-racist educational exchange.

It also aims to promote the sharing of experiences, knowledge and public policies between African countries and the African diaspora, targeting teachers and undergraduate students.

The opening ceremony of the seminar will be attended by Luiz Paulo Bastos, representative of the Ministry of Racial Equality of the Federative Republic of Brazil; Karina de Fátima Gomes, Brazilian reader at the Guimarães Rosa Institute of Uni-CV; the vice-rector of Uni-CV, Jorge Tavares; and the Brazilian ambassador to Cape Verde, Alexandre Henrique de Azevedo Silva.
