Africa-Press – Eritrea. A seminar on the “Specialty of Eritrean Independence” was conducted in Keren city on 15 and 16 May for Government workers, members of the Defense Forces, the public, and students. The seminar was organized in connection with the 34th Independence Day anniversary.

The seminar, delivered by Mr. Daniel Eyasu, Head of Foreign Relations of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students, focused on the unique aspects of Eritrean independence in nurturing nationalism and a patriotic society. It also addressed external hostilities and conspiracies, as well as the resilience of the Eritrean people and Government.

Mr. Daniel explained that independence embodies passionate social, political, economic, psychological, and self-reliant attributes, while freedom refers to liberation from foreign domination and achieving sovereignty and a distinct political identity.

He further stated that Eritrea today is a nation with a free political stance, one that stands independently without expecting external charity, protects its cultural values, ensures sovereignty, and upholds social justice. He emphasized that the people live in unity and harmony under these principles.

Mr. Daniel also called on all citizens, especially the youth, to identify external threats and conspiracies and to become the rightful owners of their history and future.

Participants, in turn, highlighted the importance of such seminars in deepening their understanding of Eritrean history and called for the continuation of similar programs.
