Africa-Press – Eritrea. Cassava Technologies , a global technology leader with African heritage, has announced a strategic partnership aimed at expanding access to Google’s advanced AI, Gemini, across the African continent.
This collaboration is built on two key initiatives designed to eliminate the primary barriers of cost and data consumption for both consumers and businesses in Africa:
A six-month extended trial of the Google AI Plus plan, provided by Google. This plan offers greater access to Google’s most powerful Gemini models, including 200 GB of storage, video generation, Gemini integration in Gmail and Docs, and higher image generation limits.
Data-free access to the Gemini app. Cassava will leverage its wide-reaching network of technology service providers to ensure eligible users can access the Gemini app without consuming their mobile data.
By utilizing Cassava’s extensive partner network alongside Google’s advanced AI solutions, this partnership will allow more people across Africa to access, experience, and benefit from cutting-edge AI technologies.
“We are excited to partner with Google to democratize access to digital solutions that empower individuals and businesses. This collaboration underscores our shared vision to make AI more inclusive, accessible, and impactful across Africa’s rapidly digitizing economies. It is about creating a smarter, more connected, and competitive Africa,” said Hardy Pemhiwa, President & Group CEO of Cassava Technologies.

This collaboration will bring the full potential of Gemini to millions of people, empowering them to learn, build, and create without worrying about data consumption,” said Josh Woodward, VP, Google Labs, Gemini, & AI Studio.
By removing the cost barrier to adoption, this initiative will provide individuals, businesses, and institutions with access to the following Google AI Plus features throughout the trial period:
Extended access to the powerful Gemini 2.5 Pro model
200 GB of cloud storage
Deep research capabilities with Gemini 2.5 Pro
Higher limits for image generation with Nano Banana
