Africa-Press – Eritrea. Nationals in the UK, Germany, Scandinavian countries, Qatar, and the US commemorated the 36th anniversary of Operation Fenkil with patriotic zeal under the theme “Heroic Fenkil Operation: Heritage for Generations.”
At the commemoration event conducted in the United Kingdom, Mr. Tewolde Yohannes, Head of Public and Community Affairs, stated that Operation Fenkil was an occasion in which the Eritrean people and liberation fighters demonstrated astounding heroism and resolve, heralding the inevitable march toward national independence.
Similarly, nationals in the German cities of Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Wuppertal, Munich, Fulda, Hamburg, Mannheim, Stuttgart, and other cities enthusiastically commemorated Operation Fenkil. At the events, Mr. Teame Haile, Head of Public and Community Affairs, stated that Operation Fenkil is not only an annual ceremony, but also an occasion for every national to renew their pledge to strengthen participation and contribution toward building a prosperous Eritrea in which its people live in peace and harmony.
At the commemoration event conducted in Doha, Qatar, on 14 February, Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Eritrea’s Ambassador to Qatar, noted that Operation Fenkil ushered in the inevitable achievement of independence and called on all citizens to play their due role in transferring this shining history to future generations.
Nationals in Swedish cities of Stockholm, Gothenburg, Orebro, Skaraborg, and Jönköping; in the Norwegian cities of Stavanger and Jessheim; in Helsinki, Finland; and in Aarhus, Denmark commemorated the 36th anniversary of Operation Fenkil with patriotic zeal.
Likewise, nationals in the US cities of Denver, Colorado, and Las Vegas commemorated the 36th anniversary of Operation Fenkil, featuring various programs depicting the historic day.
