Africa-Press – Eritrea. World Toilet Day 2025 was observed at the national level on 20 November at Embaderho administrative area, Serejeka sub-zone, Central Region.
Dr. Andeberhan Tesfatsion, Director General of Public Health at the Ministry of Health, said that toilets are significant infrastructure for ensuring the health of the society. He also stated that the community-based environmental sanitation program initiated in 2008 has created a positive impact, as families nationwide are building and making use of toilets.
Mr. Kiflemariam Gebremeskel, administrator of Serejeka sub-zone, on his part indicated that extensive awareness-raising activities have been conducted in the sub-zone since 2008 and that the understanding of the public has been growing from time to time regarding the use of toilets in ensuring public health.
At the event, health professionals from the Ministry of Health and the Eritrean Medical Association conducted a panel discussion.
In the same vein, World Children’s Day, 20 November, was observed at the regional level in the Southern Red Sea Region.
The event featured a parade by pre-school students as well as cultural and artistic programs.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Yosief Fesehaye, head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare in the region, said that the day is being observed for the 67th time internationally and for the 34th time at the national level.
