Africa-Press – Eswatini. SIHLANGU players have been rewarded for their spirited performances in recent national assignments.
The players reportedly received E20 000 each in allowances for their appearance for the nation’s pride in three competitions such in the Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup, 2023 CHAN qualifiers and the rescheduled 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
The money includes the two wins in the COSAFA Cup against Lesotho and Mauritius where each player got E6 000 from the E3 000 mandatory fee for a win.
Forming part of the allowances is the E6 000 which each player accumulated from four draws which stands at E1 500 per match.
The Dominic Kunene-led side played a single draw against Malawi in the COSAFA Cup, two CHAN draws against Botswana and the 2-all draw away against Togo in the AFCON qualifiers. The players made E8 000 from the E500 daily training allowance from the numbers of days spent in camp during the above mentioned competitions.
A source close to the matter confirmed that the players have received their payments. “Players have been paid their allowances which covered the COSAFA Cup, CHAN qualifiers and AFCON qualifiers.
This is a way of encouraging players during national assignments,”the source said
Meanwhile, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe said he was not privy to comment since the matter was confidential between the players and the association.
“I can’t say anything about the matter you are talking about since it is administrative and is handled with confidentiality by the organisation and the players,” he said.
