Africa-Press – Eswatini. Talk of business!! Former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has been hired as a consultant by Royal AM to share his CAF expertise as they begin their CAF Confederations Cup campaign.
This comes ahead of their CAF Confederations Cup clash against Mbabane Highlanders scheduled for next Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium. The experienced mentor will be offering advice to the team in both domestic competitions and the Confederation Cup.
Mosimane explained his new role to News 24 earlier this week after his appointment.
“We share information. We’ve been in the Champions League for the past 12 years.
“There was some success we had and failures as well. Some of the failures are beyond your control while some are in your control. Be very careful of the CAF interclub competitions so we are sharing the information to say we’ve done this before and did it right,” he said.
The experienced coach went on to say he was very familiar with Royal AM’s current situation in terms of fixture congestion and what the best ways to deal with those challenges were. He made examples of team’s within the premiership who had participated in the competition and how it affected their domestic seasons.
Meanwhile, Mbabane Highlanders Public Relations Officer Mandla Madonsela emphasised that the team was not intimidated by the news and that they had faith in their own technical bench to carry them to victory.
“It is a good appointment for them but as Mbabane Highlanders we are ready for anything no matter what kind of tactics they bring.
We have been preparing for this competition since we qualified and we are confident both the players and the technical bench have what it takes to see us have a good run in the competition. In short, we are not daunted by the task ahead of us,” he said.
So far during the current DStv Premiership campaign Royal AM has three wins, two losses and a draw in their opening six matches in what has been an inconsistent start to the season.
…E50 for bull, royal am clash
SOCCER – Fans will have to part with E50 to watch the CAF Confederation match between Mbabane Highlanders and South Africa soccer giants Royal AM.
This comes after CAF gave the country a temporary permit to host the match after it was banned for almost two years, citing that it did not meet the CAF and FIFA standards.
The Durban-based outfit will arrive in the country next Friday, with the team’s Managing Director, Shauwn Mkhize, arriving the following day.
‘Thwihli Thwahla’ as Royal AM is affectionely known amongst their supporters, will be arriving in the country for the first time.
Mbabane Highlanders Public Relations Officer Madonsela confirmed the ticket prices and urged fans to purchase theirs as early as possible.
The capital city giants return to the continental assignment after nine years of absence.
This is after the Selaotse ‘Sly’Mosala-led charges finished as runners-up in the 2021/22 MTN Premier League.
