Africa-Press – Eswatini. Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo has promised that government will offer some assistance to the over 400 ‘Bend and Pick’ vendors whose stock was burnt in the storage facility adjacent to the Manzini bus rank.
According to a statement released earlier today, the ministry is looking to engage with the cross border trader’s association executive committee to find a solution on how the businesses can be assisted to restart, as a matter of urgency.
“Government assures the vendors and the Nation that we understand that informal traders are significant contributors to our economy, and we shall always endeavour to render support to them during difficult times such as this,” said Khumalo.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) reported that the fire destroyed property worth an estimated E8 000 000.
