Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Republic of China (Taiwan) is offering job opportunities to qualified English teachers in the country and globally. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Thuli Dladla, said this was a result of bilateral relations between the two countries.
She said his came about as a result of His Majesty the King Mswati III and Taiwan’s Minister of Overseas Opportunity Affairs Council, Chen-Yuan Tung, last month. “His Majesty instructed that we implement this and see it to its fruition.
This will be on a first come, first serve basis and the forms are already available at the ministry,” she said. Taiwan Embassy Secretary, Andrew Chen, said this was not only available to Eswatini but other English speaking countries.
He encouraged English teachers to apply, adding that others from neighbouring country, Philippines had already started applying. Chen said they were searching for qualified English teachers and assistant teachers for public elementary and junior high schools. He added that the applicants had to be vetted and authenticated by their respective ministry of foreign affairs before taking them to the Taiwan Embassy.
“The applicants are expected to take the education certificate, teaching license, which is equivalent to the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and the police clearance to the ministry of foreign affairs for the first phase of vetting and authentication.
“After this process, the documents are then taken to the Taiwan Embassy for the second phase of authentication,” he said. He said the documents should be submitted on the following application website https://tfetp.epa.ntmu.edu.tw/.
Chen further said an online interview would be setup with the applicant and that if passed, a relevant school would be found and a contract signed.
“The schools will then apply for the applicant’s work permit in Taiwan and apply for the visa with the work permit on behalf of the teacher. For further enquiries, please send to the following email: [email protected]. The best advice is to prepare all the needed documents so that you stand a better chance,” he said.
Minimal qualification should be a bachelor’s degree and the average pay will be E39 000. Those with teaching experience are at an advantage and working hours are eight for five days per week. Accommodation, flight, performance bonus and overtime pay are some of the benefits,” he said.
