Africa-Press – Eswatini. National Under-23 head coach Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane has called five National Under-20 players for the TotalEnergies Under-23 qualifiers against Egypt scheduled for Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium.
The players are Philiso Siphepho, Bongumusa Fakudze, Kelvin Kunene, Yenzi Khumalo and Sinenkhosi Dlamini.
The players were very instrumental in the COSAFA under-20 tournament that was recently hosted in the country where the Eswatini side was booted out at the group stages of the competition.
A source close to the matter revealed that the players have been included in the Under-23 squad.
“Five national Under-20 players have been added in the Under-23 squad as part of the Eswatini Football Association’s plan to have transition in the junior squads,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Eswatini Football Association Chief Executive Officer Frederick Mngomezulu could neither agree nor deny the latest when sought for comment.
“ I can’t pre-empt anything at the moment until the Under-23 coaches announce the final squad for the Egypt clash.
There is a possibility that some of the National Under-20 players could be part of the Under-23 squad,” he said.
The ‘Nuro’ Ntibane-led troops will be looking to continue with their winning ways, having beaten Botswana in the first round of the qualifiers.
