Government foils plan to harm ‘Commander’

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini has revealed that it has foiled a plan by certain people who want to harm suspected terrorist Thabo Kunene who is widely referred to as ‘Commander’.

In the press statement issued by Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo on Friday, the government revealed that credible intelligence reports have come to its attention that certain elements based outside the country are working on a secret plan their collaborators within the system to harm in one way or the other the suspect.

The plan, according to the statement, is to manipulate the information which the suspect is divulging to agencies of law enforcement under interrogation.

This, the government said, is being done as a deliberate strategy of diversion and to create a conundrum as the plotters attempt to push back on any possibility of linking them to certain criminal and murder cases which the suspect has been charged with.

“Government wishes to inform the nation that all is being done by national security services to ensure that the suspect, Thabo Kunene, is provided with maximum protection as he and his accomplice await trial,” reads part of the statement.

The government also warned that all those who are or may be involved in such a diabolical plan to harm the suspect while in the custody of the government, to desist from it right away, for the law will take its course.

Furthermore, the government urged the nation and all emaSwati to be on the lookout for people whose intentions are to cause chaos and confusion in the country and thus divert and blame others for their respective criminal activities.

“EmaSwati must continue to report to the nearest police station any suspicious movements of unknown people in the country,” it was mentioned in the statement.
