Africa-Press – Eswatini. MBABANE Swallows’ skilful midfielder Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze says his former teammate, Richard ‘Richie’ McCreesh was not given a fair chance in the Premier League.
The former Mbombela United and Polokwane City star said the ‘Beautiful Birds’ development product was labelled an ill-disciplined player, something he said was not true of McCreesh.
“I personally know the guy, he is good inside the field of play, that I can say without any hesitation. He used to attend training every day, even then they never believed in such talent, which is not fair at all.
The reason he is not a favourite of many is that he is a straight-talker.
The issue of favouritism really kills the morale and spirit among players,” he said.

The Lubulini-born player said people should not take what a player did outside the field of play, and use it to define a particular player’s football career.
“We are also human beings, and we should be treated like that.
“Not to say players should behave badly outside the field of play, but if they perform to expectations inside the field of play, I don’t think see that as a problem.
“I know he is one of the best players the country has ever witnessed in recent times.
“He must keep his head up and it’s not yet over for him,” Sikhondze added.
McCreesh is a development product at Mbabane Swallows and was promoted to the senior team alongside winger Sizolwethu ‘Nunu’ Shabalala.
He also had a short stint with hub giants Manzini Wanderers and is currently in the books of Hhohho Super League side Sidwashini United, who recently missed a chance to qualify for the National First Division League promotion after being thrashed by Pigg’s Peak Rangers.
