Africa-Press – Eswatini. FORMER Mbabane Swallows player Masotja Vilakati is the new chairperson of the club’s Board of Governors.
This was announced by Swallows Chairman of the Elders Absalom Ngwenya at Mollies Restaurant yesterday.
Ngwenya is in charge of the team for now as talks with a possible candidate to fill the vacancy for the director are still ongoing.
“We are still in talks with Bishop Bheki Lukhele and other potential directors and we hope that the bishop will return to lead the team. As for now, supporters and management will report to Vilakati since we currently do not have a director. In the meantime I will be in charge of the team,” he said.
He said as the team’s management, they were warning a clique of people who always convened meetings meant to destabilise operations of the team, including the unwarranted behaviour of fans during football matches.
Ngwenya warned that the culprits would be disciplined in order to curb the wild behaviour of fans, which later cost the team an arm and a leg in fines.
“We will set a precedence in order to curb such behaviour, thus sending a strong message to would-be offenders in the future,” he said.
Mbabane Swallows Head of Legal Welile Mabuza said their focus as a team was to invade Africa and such preparations were progressing going well.
He said the unknown people, who were trying to let down the team, would be charged if they continue to cause trouble in stadiums.
Mabuza, a Swallows stalwart, said as a team they would follow laid down structures and suspend fans who were not behaving well, as they had all the right to do so.
General Manager Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane said as a team they wanted to do the right thing and make sure that fans behaved well during matches.
He said they were looking forward to the commencement of the league and their target was to win all tournaments on offer.
Zwane said they had a good team and had signed players who were expected to add value to the team. “We are ready for the war and will do our level best as a team to record good results.
We would like to thank management and supporters for being behind the team always,” said Zwane, who now serves as a governor for the Birds in the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE).
