Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Umhlanga Reed Dance Main Day at Ludzidzini Royal Residence brought together two Kings and two former presidents, amongst other dignitaries.
Over 120 000 maidens paid homage to Their Majesties during the colourful ceremony yesterday.
The event was attended by Lesotho’s King Letsie III as well as former South African president Jacob Zuma and former Botswana president Ian Khama.
The King’s guests are also expected to be part of the 55/55 double celebration tomorrow.
Also forming part of the cultural event were many traditional leaders from the neighbouring South Africa and Africa.
These included Eastern Cape Inkosi Bungaliwile, KwaNdebele’s Nzunza Mtshabi, Inkosi Mahodongo Mahlangu, Prince Msutfu, Prince Sisitwako II, Prince Mandla, Princess Nomkhosi, Afrikan Young Indigenous Leaders founder Princess Dr Nikiwe Bam, Queen Nosipho kaMvelase Ajayi from Yoruba land and more.
The event also united many nations as people from across the African continent and other continents that include Asia, Europe and the United States of America attended.
Over 23 groups of maidens from South Africa; KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and Gauteng also joined the Imbali as they showcased their skills on the day.
