MAINTAIN PEACE, KING’S MESSAGE TO PARLIAMENT

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Their Majesties have urged the 12th Parliament to be united and strive to maintain peace.

Their Majesties passed this message when blessing the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Jabulani Mabuza and his Deputy, Madala Mhlanga.

Giving feedback about the visit to Their Majesties, Mabuza said Their Majesties advised on how to go about executing their duties.

He said Their Majesties appreciated how peaceful the elections were and noted how the nation went all out in their numbers to vote.

“His Majesty further thanked the nation for electing people who were going to represent their interests in Parliament,” he stated.

He said Eswatini was one of the countries that were pushing to reach first world status and it was important that parliamentarians work towards ensuring that this goal was attained.

“His Majesty also emphasised that we ensure that the country continues to be a peaceful nation and warned of the dangers of a country without peace. He said parliamentarians should always keep that in mind and always strive for a developed country,” Mabuza stated.

Maphalaleni MP, Mabulala Maseko, said Their Majesties were impressed on the election of the Speaker and his deputy, saying they were people of calibre who had been seen executing their duties diligently.

Maseko said Their Majesties indeed emphasised on unity and peace.

“They said if we work together as a united Parliament with a focused proper vision, this will have positive impacts to the country,” Maseko stated.

He said developed countries were those that have peace and security.

The country, Maseko said, was on the right path in terms of development and if peace prevailed then everything would work out just fine.

Their Majesties, according to Maseko, urged the 12th Parliament to ensure that they adhered to the Constitution and standing orders.

“Their Majesties requested that these instruments be our bible,” Maseko said.

This would ensure that their work proceeds smoothly.

He went to state that as legislators, they must be the first to lead by example in following the country’s legislations.

Another issue which Maseko said Their Majesties emphasised on was that they must never forget their constituencies and said they must ensure they get the views of their constituents.
