Africa-Press – Eswatini. ESWATINI senior national team head coach Dominic Kunene has placed his trust on the players ahead of Sihlangu’s international friendly game against Bafana Bafana today at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Kunene says the match would be an acid test for the boys.

“This will be a very tough match, but I trust my players and when playing a team like South Africa, you try by all means to minimise mistakes because they can be used to punish you badly,” said Kunene.

Picked

He said the players were ready for the match. Sihlangu left the country on Wednesday night.

“The spirit is high among the players and they are looking forward to the match.

The good thing is that we have an injury-free squad,” Kunene said.

South Africa’s coach Hugo Broos, when addressing the media on why they picked Eswatini for the friendly match, said since they would be playing against Lesotho next month in the World Cup Qualifiers, they were looking for a country that will not try to win against them, and try not to lose against them, which would be a good preparatory game for his side.

This will be Sihlangu Semnikati’s tough test in recent times, with the two sides’ last meeting in July during the COSAFA Cup where South Africa prevailed 2-1.

Bafana Bafana announced a strong squad to face Eswatini and the list includes the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns stars Themba Zwane, Ronwen Williams and Teboho Mokoena, while Al Ahly forward Percy Tau has withdrawn from the squad together with Orlando Pirates player Monnapuleng Saleng.

Wish

Fans who wish to witness the game will pay E40 at the gate.

Meanwhile, fans will have to make their own means if they want to watch the match.

Eswatini National Supporters Committee Chairman Menzi ‘Madlakadlaka’ Dladla said they had already committed themselves to attend the funeral of Nsingizini Hotspurs fan Nosimilo Mvubu.

“We will not be able to travel to FNB Stadium to support Sihlangu as we will be attending the funeral of one of our own in Nsingizini fan Nosimilo Mvubu. The funeral will be on Saturday (tomorrow), so we will not be able to attend both events. We also had difficulty in securing a bus due to the Shiselweni Umhlanga in Nhlangano.”
