Africa-Press – Eswatini. “They owe us Sangweni’s transfer fee.”
These were the words of Moneni Pirates Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sibusiso Nkambule, on the move of their former enterprising winger Mphumuzo Sangweni to MTN Premier League returnees Illovo. The PRO revealed that Sangweni was not their player after he was sold to Royal Leopard, two seasons ago.
Nkambule said there was nothing amiss with Sangweni playing for the Gcina Dlamini-led side as he was officially a Royal Leopard player. “Sangweni is no longer our player, as we sold him to Leopard; he was on loan to us last season. What is disturbing is that they still owe us his transfer fee, which was at E50 000,” Nkambule said. He said this was not the first time the Edwin Matsebula-coached side failed to fulfil transfer agreements as they did the same when Bongani ‘Ngci’ Ndzimandze joined the police side a few seasons ago.
“What Leopard is doing is not good, the challenge is that when these moves occur, the parents of the players are also involved which then gives us less power in some negotiations,” he said. Meanwhile, Illovo Chairperson Gcina Ndwandwe said the player was not theirs as he was on a season long loan from Ingwe mabalabala. “Sangweni is on loan here,” Ndwandwe said. On the other hand, Leopard PRO Frank Hurube said he was currently mourning the death of their President and National Commissioner (NatCom) of Police William tsitsibala Dlamini and would then be available to make comments once the president was laid to rest.
