Africa-Press – Eswatini. Fine artist Daniel Dlamini expressed his frustration with the arts industry in the country on his Facebook account.

The artist, who recently had an exhibition, lamented on what he felt was incompetency in the arts and culture sector of Eswatini.

His lengthy rant on Facebook highlighted his frustration and anger at the way operations were conducted – citing negligence as a main issue.

Writing primarily in SiSwati, the artist called out a few names which he deemed responsible but will not be published for ethical reasons.

The artist expressed how he felt that the youth’s efforts and energy were being drained by the local industry and how they was being held back.

“Our efforts as the youth lead to nothing and (meaninglessness). We are getting old, you are holding us back.

We get warm reception in other countries whilst our own does not provide snything to nurture our talents,” he said.

Asked about the season of his statement, Dlamini stated that he did not like seeing artists having to go outside the country in order to get recognition.

“We do not like that we have to go to other countries for our talents to be taken seriously instead of us getting recognition here at home,” he said.
