Africa-Press – Eswatini. Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, Sikhumbuzo Dlamini said his appointment was not a strategy to silence him.

The minister, who was addressing the ministry’s staff during his introductory visit yesterday, said some people believe that his appointment was a strategy to silence him yet that is not the case.

He said they were instead appointed because His Majesty King Mswati III wanted them to aid development in the country.

Dlamini said he would never be silenced and would continue to voice out all matters that needed attention at both the ministry and in Cabinet.

According to the minister, he would also not be silent when there was a need to advise their Majesties on issues that would benefit the country at large.

He said he was a straight talker and if an environment was not conducive, he would always say something despite the circumstances, adding that he was a hard worker and believed in effective job execution.

“Every issue that needs my attention in the ministry is going to be addressed. Other ministry issues will be attended at Cabinet,” Dlamini said.

“I have not been silenced as some people may claim or believe. Their Majesties appointed us because they want to see progress in the country.

I promise that I will work effectively and with due diligence to their Majesties and to the people,” he said.

The former police officer was vocal during the 10th Parliament and had run-ins with the late former prime minister, Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini, in Parliament.

On the introductory meeting, the minister also called for unity within the ministry as he would not allow situations where personnel badmouthed one another to him and advised that all matters must be discussed and addressed in right platforms to avoid creating division.

He further challenged the staff to know the ministry’s hierarchy in order to direct information to relevant offices at all times.

“I will also discuss issues with the principal secretary or top management when there is something that needs to be addressed. I will not send someone to Nkwene to do my personal duties.

I want everyone to work on the ministry’s mandate to avoid any unnecessary tensions. I will not allow people to badmouth one another but there should be peace. Badmouthing a person to me will not help anyone,” Dlamini said.
