Africa-Press – Eswatini. ESWATINI National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) Board Chairman Hhansense Dlamini has urged choirs and the culture troupe that will be representing the country in international activities and competitions to hoist Eswatini’s flag.
He said Emaswati were famous for respect and humility, urging them to uphold these values.
He was speaking during the send-off for four choirs which will be competing in Tshwane at the Battle of nations Competition next weekend.
Also going is as a culture troupe which will be participating at the street carnival in Mbombela this weekend. The send off for the teams was at Bethel Court yesterday morning. The event also marked the launch of the Choral Music Composers Forum capacity building workshop, which started Wednesday and ends today.
The chairman said as the teams would be representing the country they must be at their best behaviour as they will be carrying the national flag.
“I also want to stress the importance of unity and respect among yourselves; something which has to start while we are here. As the board we wish you well and support all the good work you will be doing in your different assignments outside the country.
We have noted your concerns and the council will do its best to contribute towards these different assignments you are going out to do,” he said.
Dlamini also applauded the composers’ forum for bringing an expert to facilitate at the capacity building workshop as this would assist them to come up with compositions that meet international standards.
He said it was wise of them to seek for knowledge because such makes one a better person. “Even our indigenous songs will at some point be upgraded and be written in the choral language to be understood by the world as a way of preserving them future generations,” he said.
