BIRDS ELDERS CALL ‘BEYOND 2000’ TO ORDER

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Long-serving Mbabane Swallows official Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane has somehow stirred the honest’s nest, as the relationship between him and some Council of Elders members is heading for the rocks.

This comes after the team’s PLE Board of Governor Zwane reportedly made a statement on Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) radio’s Sports Show on Monday, where he said anyone who had the funds should show up and take over the running of the club.

This did not sit well with the Council of Elders, as they fired a broadside salvo and also blamed the club’s Chairman Absalom Ngwenya for being part of the problem.

Vice Chairman Bhekithemba Ginindza, who was accompanied by the secretary general Enock Nkosi, said the statement was tantamount to an insult to the highest structure of the team and was capable of lowering their dignity.

“We have come to correct what Zwane has just said on the Sports Show. How can he tell the world that anyone who has money can come and take over the club? How can he say that and whom did he consult before making this statement?

His job is to look after the interest of the team in the PLE and stop meddling in other issues, like sponsorships. For instance, we also learnt from the media that there’s an incoming sponsor to be launched soon. As elders we are not aware of that.

“There’s also the issue of Bishop Lukhele, who told us that he was willing to come back to the club, provided we fixed certain things. What we can say is that, it’s difficult to fix those things because some people within the club are not willing to listen.

This derails the probable return of our lovable president. Just last week, the elders called a meeting and invited the MC to bring reports.

Surprisingly, no one from the MC showed up. We got it from the grapevine that the MC was told not to attend. We want today to call Zwane to order and he must not undermine us. He mustn’t forget that he is where he is today because of the elders. It’s a pity that even Ngwenya is also part of this,” they alleged, without elaborating much.

Zwane wondered where all this was coming from.

“With all due respect, I will not respond to this because I do not know where it is coming from. I did consult with the Chairman, Absalom Ngwenya and he told me that he was also not aware of this.”

Zwane said he was only concerned about not dragging the name of the team through the mud.

“If anyone has concerns, they must raise them through the team’s structures. I will choose to respect the team and not say anything, at least for now. I do not like being misquoted,” he said politely.
