EMASWATI URGED TO PRAY FOR ECONOMY IN ALL-NIGHTER

Africa-Press – Eswatini. CHRISTIANS have been urged to come together and pray for the Their Majesties, government and the economy of the country during an all-night service today.

Director of Voice of the Church, Bishop Zachariah Mthethwa urged Christians from all denominations to congregate at Mavuso Trade Centre for the service.

He said part of the prayer items would be for the leadership of the country. He said Their Majesties were tasked with making key decisions that give Emaswati direction, hence they needed God’s intervention and guidance.

The bishop said the service would be held under the theme ‘God is doing a new thing in Eswatini’.

“God has revealed that He will be doing new things in the country this year.

“We have a new cabinet led by Russell Dlamini, who is coming in as the new Joseph of our time for the Kingdom of Eswatini. He is the key figure as the head of government hence the new thing will start with him,” he said.

He then quoted a verse in Isaiah 43:18-19 ‘Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert’. He said the service would also focus on the issue of gender-based violence, which has engulfed the country.

“God has revealed that this scourge is demonic and there is a need for the body of Christ to come together and pray against it as it has claimed many lives,” he said.

Bishop Mthethwa, who is also the leader and founder of God at Work Church, said they were also expecting representatives from government and members of parliament to be part of the service.

Mthethwa said the service would start at 6pm.

He the service would also feature SA gospel artist Donny Ngwenyama, who would minister through music, alongside local artists.

He said speakers for the night included the guest speaker, prophet Sandile Msimang from Port shepstone Thy Will Ministries, Reverend Sibongile Dlamini from Anglican Church, Reverend Dr Aaron Matsebula Free Evangelical Mbabane and Apostle Celucolo Mavimbela Life Restoration Church.

Others are Bishop Jerome Sangweni from The Swazi Christian Church Nhlangano, Brother Solomon Zikalala Miracle Center and Pastor Precious Fakudze.

“We are also expecting a representative from government and if opportunity permits we might have the prime minister making a stop to pass a message of support to the church,” he said. Mthethwa said they trusted God for a good attendance even this year, which will be the ninth edition of this annual service where the nation gathers in prayer.

“We have always been blessed with good attendances ever since this vision was born through a vision of the bishop back in 2014 when I joined the station.

“We are hopeful that once again people will come in numbers to this service and we also expect church leaders from all the denominations to be part of this important service,” he said. The Bishop added that the service will be live on VOC and Channel YeMaswati.
