INGWENYAMA CUP SET FOR SUPERSPORT BROADCAST AGAIN

Africa-Press – Eswatini. PAY-per view TV channel SuperSport is on the verge of partnering with the SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup again, as this year’s edition will be broadcast live, thereby exposing local talent to international scouts.

This was revealed by Ingwenyama Cup Public Relations Officer Nkosilenhle Masuku, while applauding the ministry of sports, culture and youth affairs for letting them use the Somhlolo National Stadium to host the tournament.

This comes after the country’s only football Mecca holds indelible memories of the money-spinning cup.

“As we all know that this cup was at its peak in the African continent when it was viewed by millions of people from the region and abroad, it is our wish as SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup to take it back to where it belongs after it was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

So it is on our plans to again engage SuperSport to broadcast this beautiful event, which has proved to be very unique in the whole world as it combines both culture and football.

Definitely, it was more like a trend that it is broadcasted, so we wish not to end it now, though we will make thorough arrangements on that towards the finals of the tournament,” said Masuku.

SuperSport has broadcasted the national tournament since its debut in 2015.

Locals always have a chance to meet well-known presenters from SuperSport, who include local legend William ‘Cool Cat’ Shongwe.

The tournament that started in September 2015, was won three times by Mbabane Swallows since its launch with the fourth edition won by Young Buffaloes while the last outing was won by Green Mamba.

Capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders have contested in two finals in the 2018 and 2019 editions.
