Africa-Press – Eswatini. CAPITAL city giants Mbabane Swallows’ fortunes could change for the better after their imminent reunion with former President Archbishop Bheki Lukhele.
The charismatic man of the cloth says he loves Mbabane Swallows after being part of the hordes of supporters who watched the crowd-pullers’ game against Green Mamba, which ended in a goalless draw at Mavuso Sports Centre on Saturday. It has been a long time since the bishop was spotted from the stands visibly happy and all smiles during the game.
“I love Swallows and I have never left the team. The Board of Governor Sandile knows my position,” Lukhele said. He said this before driving out of the stadium after the game in a sleek sedan.
The Governor Sandile Zwane could not be reached for comment on the matter.
The team’s Public Relations Officer Knowledge Ngwenya said talks were still ongoing with Lukhele.
The archbishop recently splashed over E400 000 in Christmas bonuses for the team. Lukhele was in charge of the ‘Birds’ after taking over from the late football administrator Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamadze’s wife Princess Lungile. Former team boss Gamedze passed on in January 2018, which is exactly six years now since his life was cut short.
Meanwhile, Lukhele was in charge of the team for three seasons and was instrumental in the engagement of international coaches such as Honour Janza and Christopher Ennin, who hail from Zambia and Ghana, respectively.
He also brought back fitness coach Siza ‘King Pele’ Dlamini from Nsingizini Hotspurs.
