Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III has given a challenge to Emaswati and all of the country’s friends to ensure that HIV/AIDS is eradicated as a public threat by 2030.
Delivering his Speech, marking the opening of the First Session of the 12th Parliament today, His Majesty the King noted that HIV/AIDS infections were declining in the country. However, he urged everyone not to rest on their laurels because the country had another target regarding the pandemic.
“While celebrating declining HIV/AIDS infections and deaths, we must reduce new infections so that Eswatini can remain on course for yet another milestone, that of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030,” the King said.
Meanwhile, His Majesty the King commended Emaswati for making sure that the fight against COVID-19 was a success. “We also contained COVID-19 and had a 2% death rate. Thanks to all awareness drives, which have excluded the diseases from the top 10 causes of morbidity,” the King said.
