SPORTS MINISTER HAPPY WITH INGWENYAMA GAMES ATTENDANCE

Africa-Press – Eswatini. MINISTER of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima has expressed his happiness with the impressive attendance during the Ingwenyama Cup quarterfinals played over the weekend.

Nzima said this after watching the double header at Mayaluka Stadium, which featured an exicting match between Green Mamba and Nsingizini Hotspurs, while the second encounter was between sugarbelt side Madlenya and army ensemble Young Buffaloes.

The minister said he was not expecting people to come in their numbers to watch the games considering that they were played in the Lubombo region, outside the busy Mbabane-Manzini corridor.

Nzima praised the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) for seeing it fit to host the games at Mayaluka Stadium, which gave football fanatics a chance to watch the interesting matches much closer.

He further encouraged the PLE to continue taking the games to the people as a way to promote the sports at grassroots level.

“I am happy with the attendance and it shows that the standard of football in the country is growing, and going forward we believe we will see more people coming to support football,” Nzima said.

He then congratulated the teams that made it through to the semi-finals, saying even the teams that were unfortunate not to win on the day played well, which shows that Eswatini has good players.
