Africa-Press – Eswatini. Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini has urged the envoys to other countries to ensure that Eswatini’s economy is revived while in their new workstations.
He made this plea when meeting the eight ambassadors who were appointed by His Majesty the King last month to represent Eswatini in different countries around the world. Some of the diplomats were appointed in November last year and had already started working.
The premier met the diplomats yesterday at Cabinet offices in Mbabane.
Dlamini said the emissaries should consider how the countries they were assigned to were making money. They had a duty of ensuring that they copied those strategies in order to implement them in Eswatini.
He said the self-employed and other small businesses were the engines of many economies in the world.
“It is important for you to look at how SMEs in those countries were started and what role they are playing to improve their economies,” he said. Dlamini also reminded the diplomats that Eswatini was working on improving its tourism sector.
He said Eswatini still looked forward to receiving as many tourists as it could. He said to many people, the country looked unsafe yet the reality was that it was still possible for tourists to enjoy their stay here and be safe. He said the country was doing something about the acts of violence that took place last year because they painted a bad image about the country.
Spread the word about Sibaya – PM
The new diplomats should teach the world about Sibaya and how it applies to the way of life of Emaswati.
This was said by Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini, who said the diplomats should explain the significance of Sibaya to the countries they have been posted to. “They will ask you what Sibaya is and you should teach them that it is the place where we talk about important issues affecting the country,” Dlamini said.
The premier said Sibaya was a forum used by Emaswati whenever they wanted to talk about certain issues.
He also said as Emaswati, they believed that every Liswati should be reached in all corners of the country when important issues were discussed.
“We do not only talk to people at certain places, without consulting all Emaswati in different parts of the country.
All Emaswati should be included, regardless of their background,” he said.
The prime minister also urged the ambassadors to communicate with one another and make sure that they spoke the same language in the different countries they would be representing Eswatini.
He further urged the emissaries to always be in touch with government so that it could ensure that their welfare was prioritised. However, he stated that the country did not have enough money and urged the envoys to work with the available resources.
Two new envoys among appointments
Out of the eight envoys that paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini, two of them are new.
These are Menzi Dlamini, who is a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkhaba Inkhundla. He hails from Ekuvinjelweni under Chief Mathutha Mncina and he has been appointed to represent the country in Malaysia. He will also represent Eswatini in countries such as India, Indonesia, Australia, Japan and others. He said he would focus on bringing foreign direct investment to Eswatini.
The other is Nkululeko Dlamini, who has been working as planning officer in the ministry of commerce, industry and trade. He is from Sigombeni under Prince Lomngeletjane. He will represent Eswatini in Kuwait. Others include Vuyile Dlamini, who represents Eswatini in Geneva, Switzerland.
He is from Nsuka, Mbekelweni, under Chief Nkhosini. Dlamini will also represent Eswatini in international organisations such as United Nations (UN), Intenational Labour Organisation (ILO) and other agencies. He will also represent the country in countries like Russia and Ukraine.
It must be stated that Dlamini was appointed officially in November last year, and has been at his duty station ever since. He was the legal advisor at the ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation.
Mlondi Dlamini, from Ka-Langa under Chief Mlimi Maziya, will be stationed in Mozambique, where he promised to work on improving trade relations between Eswatini and Mozambique.
He said Mozambique could help Eswatini, as the neighbouring country was an exporter of electricity and natural gas. He was previously stationed in Malaysia.
Thandazile Mbuyisa, from Mpolonjeni (Mbabane) under Chief Zembe Dvuba, will be representing the country in London, where she promised to strengthen relarions between the United Kingdom (UK) and Eswatini. Lindiwe Kunene, also from Mpolonjeni (Mbabane) under Chief Zembe Dvuba, will represent Eswatini in South Africa.

Make Their Majesties proud – PM
It is important for the recently appointed ambassadors to make Their Majesties proud of them as they execute their ambassadorial duties in the different workstations to which His Majesty King Mswati III posted them.
This was said by Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini when meeting the country’s envoys that will represent Eswatini in a number of countries abroad.
“It is important for all of you to ask yourselves what is so special about you that Their Majesties can trust you with such huge responsibilities.
There are many other capable Emaswati, but Their Majesties thought that you could do the job better. If you do not ask yourselves that question, you might find yourselves doing a shoddy job,” the prime minister said.
The prime minister also reminded them that they were being sent to represent the country in their different workstations. He said people who were mandated were not like people who were on holiday or on vacation.
“You are sent to portray the right image of the country because people are now beginning to have other images that are sometimes not true about this country. You are sent to correct that. We are not saying go there and do propaganda, but we are saying go there and portray a truthful picture about this country,” he said.
The premier also told the envoys that some members of the international community did not understand the political system of the country, the Tinkhundla system of governance.
“If you do not know about the system, I urge you to familiarise yourselves with it so you’re informed about it,” he said
Dlamini said there were many politicians in the country who won the elections, but their knowledge about the Tinkhundla system was wanting. He said Eswatini had welcomed many ambassadors who represented their respective countries.
“When we hear them speak and look at what they do, we conclude that this is how they do things in their countries. We use them to get an insight of how things are done in their countries. That is what is going to happen in the countries you are going to. The people are going to learn about Eswatini through you,” he said.
