–HUB giants Manzini Wanderers finally ended their 10 matches winless run on the road with a morale boosting victory over relegation threatened Malanti Chiefs at Killarney Stadium yesterday.

The maroon and white ensemble eased off their administrative issues with their sixth win of the campaign, thanks to goals from Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini and Thembisa Shabangu at the expense of the 14th-placed opposition.

Wanderers had not won a match since New Year’s Day and had gone winless in 10 MTN Premier League matches, irking the wrath of their fans, who verbally and physically attacked club director Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini last Saturday, following a crippling defeat to Denver Sundowns.

The crisis reached boiling point mid last week, as the Council of Elders Chairman Joe Nkumane threw his full weight behind the Management Committee and directors.

Announced

Promptly, the maroon and white giants’ vocal supporter ‘Majayivane’ Dlamini announced that he was back at the club, and will serve in the MC. Dlamini’s return seemed to be a good omen as ‘Tiger’ and Thembisa cancelled out Malanti’s opening goal scored by the now dependable Nkos’ingiphile ‘Musona’ Dlamini.

This was also the ‘Weslians’ first victory under the tutelage of former Sihlangu assistant coach Velekhaya Mthethwa since he replaced the veteran Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe two months ago.

Malanti had the better of the exchanges in the first half, as they had the visitors’ defence working overtime in the opening half hour, forcing three corners in the process.
The match went to break at 0-0.

Malanti scored first in the second half through ‘Musona’ Dlamini as they were in control of the match. .
As the match progressed, Wanderers’ confidence soared in the second half, with Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini and Thembisa Shabangu scoring for the hub giants to get the three points.

The crowd pullers are now perched at position eight on the log table with 23 points after 20 matches on the run.
