Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III will address the international community during the 12th World Governments Summit, which has started today.

The king will take part in the meeting, following his safe arrival in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

His Majesty the King arrived at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai in the wee hours of February 11, 2025, to be part of the 12th World Governments Summit. The king arrived in the Middle East country after jetting off from the country yesterday afternoon. The king is accompanied by Inkhosikati LaMahlangu.

The Summit, which was opened this morning, is expected to consist of 30 invited Heads of State, who will have discussions on a vital role that can be played by information and communication technologies in developing countries.

The king’s delegation includes Prince David, Princess Lomathemba, and Chief Meluleki Dlamini. Ministers also form part of the king’s delegation. They include Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Pholile Shakantu, Minister of Information, Communication and Technology Savannah Maziya, and Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Mkhonta-Simelane.

His Majesty the King is expected to make his remarks during the summit. This year’s World Governments Summit has already convened under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments.’ This Summit will bring together Governments, international organizations, thought leaders, and private sector leaders from around the globe to foster international cooperation and identify innovative solutions for future challenges, ultimately inspiring and empowering the next generation of Governments.

The program will focus on shaping a better future for humanity and will highlight 6 main thematic conversations:

Effective governance and accountability

Financing the future and the global economy

Climate crisis mitigation and resilient cities

Human centric futures and capacity building

Global health transformations

Emerging frontiers and the future

The World Government Summit is a global knowledge exchange platform for governments that was established in 2013 under the leadership of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The summit is expected to end on February 13, 2025. The king will then proceed to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, where he will be part of the 38th African Union (AU) Summit, which will take place from February 15 and 16, 2025.
