KUSEKHAYA CYCLING URGES MOTORISTS TO RESPECT CYCLISTS ON THE ROAD

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Kusekhaya Cycling Club has urged motorists to respect cyclists on the road, adhere to traffic laws, and drive with care.

This comes after the death of Vitor Manuel da Costa Oliveira, who lost his life in a road accident on 9 April 9, 2025 while doing what he loved: cycling. In statement, Kusekhaya Cycling Club said there is no journey that is worth a life.

Oliveira was knocked down a car while on his bike in Mbabane on Tuesday. This is not the first accident that claimed a life of a cyclist over the past 12 months and there has been in increase in accident involving cyclists.

“Kusekhaya Cycling Club is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic passing of our beloved fellow cyclist, Vitor Manuel da Costa Oliveira. Vitor was more than just a cyclist; he was a passionate rider, a loyal friend, and an inspiration to all who knew him. His enthusiasm, dedication, and kindness left a lasting impression on our club and the wider cycling community. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled.

On behalf of the Kusekhaya Cycling Club, we extend our deepest condolences to Vitor’s family, friends, colleagues, and fellow cyclists. His contributions to the sport and his unwavering spirit were immeasurable. We share in your grief and stand with you during this difficult time.

We also take this moment to urge all motorists to respect cyclists on the road, adhere to traffic laws, and drive with care. No journey is worth a life.

May Vitor’s soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy inspire us to ride with purpose, passion, and unity just as he did,” reads a statement.
