Africa-Press – Eswatini. Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze refunded more soldiers last week their five hundred Rands (R500.00) joining fee after looting and closing the multimillion Burial Fund.
Worth-noting, some soldiers joined the Fund more than fifteen (15) years ago and the Burial Fund has been accumulating interests through investments, a family of each deceased or late soldier was receiving twelve thousand Rands (R12,000.00) as “imali yekuliwa”.
But the Army Commander allegedly pocketed the millions accumulated by the Burial Fund through investments and subsequently refunded the soldiers their joining monies.
”We have been refunded only the joining fees, our investment monies gone!”, said one of the soldiers.
Army Spokesperson Major Sandile Gwebu declined to comment about the corruption that resulted to the collapse of the Burial Fund.
On another note, the Army Commander allegedly colluded with Army Spokesperson Major Sandile Gwebu, the then Chairman of Hlalawati Savings and Cooperatives to loot the soldiers’ savings, Fakudze was receiving five thousand Rands (R5,000.00) per-week and other monies as “litiya la-Commander” and the looted soldiers savings accumulated to over R1million since Fakudze took over as the Army Commander.
