During a recent event, he acknowledged the significant contributions made by Taiwan, which include both financial support and various health initiatives.

– Equipment Donation: Equipment valued at approximately E12 million was provided by Taiwan’s Special Envoy Dr Lin Chia-lung, enhancing healthcare facilities. Dr Chia-lung is in the country on a working visit, representing Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te.
– Infrastructure Improvements: Investments aimed at upgrading healthcare infrastructure have been made.
– Training Programs: Training for local health professionals to improve service delivery.
– Community Outreach: Programs targeting non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and providing specialized medical care.
– Specialist Support: Provision of specialist doctors and their expertise.
– Medical Supplies: Donation of essential drugs and ambulances to improve emergency services.
Minister Matsebula’s Reflections
Minister Matsebula highlighted the long-standing relationship between Eswatini and Taiwan, emphasizing its mutual benefits. He stated:
“I have taken time to reflect on the long-standing relationship between our Kingdom and the Republic of China (Taiwan), and I must mention that it has been a quality relationship.”

The Minister reassured that the Ministry of Health’s efforts are focused on providing healthcare services to every LiSwati, regardless of their financial situation:
“We would like to assure the Taiwan Government that all our efforts as the Ministry of Health are aimed at benefitting every LiSwati, regardless of their ability to pay for health services.”
Moreover, he expressed confidence in overcoming challenges in the healthcare system with the continued support from Taiwan:
“We are confident that we will win as long as Taiwan Government is with us.”
