Africa-Press – Eswatini. Two cooperatives from the Pigg’s Peak Inkhundla have been granted over E4 million from the Regional Development Fund (RDF) to support their income-generating projects.
This fund aims to boost local development and help reduce poverty in Eswatini.
The Ingcebo Yetfu Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited received E2 360 524.76 for a tipper truck, while the Dream Big Peak Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited was awarded E1 897 175.00 for a Tractor Loader Backhoe (TLB).
The official handover of approval letters was done by Senior Development Officer Buyisile Xaba, who congratulated the cooperatives on their successful applications.
She stressed the importance of their commitment, urging them to meet their 10% contribution towards the projects. “Congratulations to both cooperatives for this achievement. Your dedication to community development is commendable. Remember, your 10% contribution is crucial for the success and sustainability of these projects,” Xaba said. She added that the RDF aims to fight poverty among the people of Eswatini.
Jabulani Mabuza, Member of Parliament for Pigg’s Peak, thanked His Majesty King Mswati III for starting the RDF, highlighting its role in improving the lives of emaSwati.
“We are very grateful to the King for this Fund. It will help develop the lives of emaSwati, and we appreciate the RDF team for approving these projects,” Mabuza said.
Members of the cooperatives were excited during the reading of the approval letters, celebrating the opportunities the funding will bring to their communities and the chance to reduce poverty.
Indvuna of Pigg’s Peak Inkhundla, Mthobisi Vilakati, thanked the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development for their support in approving these projects.
He praised the Inkhundla council for working together with the local people. “We thank the Ministry for their support and the Inkhundla council for collaborating with the people of Pigg’s Peak. I encourage all residents to come forward and submit their project ideas to the Inkhundla council,” Vilakati urged.
Sikelela Sibiya, chairman of the Ingcebo Yetfu Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, thanked his members for their efforts in contributing to the 10%. “I am very thankful to my members for working together, and I encourage others that it is possible to contribute the 10% as we have done,” he said. He also thanked the MP and his council, expressing hope that they would now see themselves as millionaires.
Nana Dlamini, chairman of the Dream Big Peak Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, also thanked the King for setting up this important fund. “These funds will help eliminate poverty among emaSwati. We are grateful to His Majesty King Mswati III for this Fund; it will improve the lives of emaSwati,” Dlamini said.
